Anne Frank, 1929 in Frankfurt am Main geboren, flüchtete 1933 mit ihren Eltern vor den Nazis nach Amsterdam. Nachdem die Nazi-Armee 1940 die Niederlande überfiel und besetzte, 1942 außerdem Maßnahmen gegen die jüdische Bevölkerung in Kraft traten, versteckte sich ihre Familie in einem Hinterhaus an der Prinsengracht. Sie wurden im August 1944 von Nazi-Schergen nach Auschwitz verschleppt. Anne Frank starb im März 1945 in Bergen-Belsen. (Der genaue Todestag ist nicht bekannt.)
