Seeds of Corchorus olitorius is always faced with low germination due to dormancy problem. Dormancy causes failure and delay in seed germination as well as non-uniform seedling emergence. These affect scheduling of field operations. This work was undertaken to determine the effects of hot water-steeping protocol on seed quality prior to and after storage. Seeds which moisture was adjusted were steeped in hot water at about 97 degree centigrade for duration of 2 or 5 seconds prior to and following storage which lasted for several weeks. The germination ability of the seeds was tested using four replicates of 50 seeds each for each of the treatment combinations on each testing date. Seed quality was determined using germination and seedling emergence percentages and seed vigour was indexed using germination rate and synchronization of germination. This book will be of important to researchers in the area of seed production and multiplication.
