It is a functional component of the Radio Solar Telescope Network (RSTN). The observatory is currently operated by Detachment 2 of the 2nd Weather Group of the Air Force Weather Agency. Instruments currently located at the Sagamore Hill RSTN Site include the RIMS (Radio Interference Monitoring Sets) and the SFIR (Sweep Frequency Interferometric Radiometer). It previously included a 150-foot fully steerable antenna, which was installed in 1963 and moved to Millstone Hill in Westford, Massachusetts in 1978.
