This work is part of the completion of a project centered on the Development of a Mechatronic System integrating a photogrammetric platform, a mechanical framework as well as a computer vision platform working on the interpretation of the acquired data using various artificial vision technics into a three-dimensional 'point-cloud' format. It involves acquiring two pairs of synchronized images from stereoscopic CCD cameras mounted on a custom designed mechanical system that has a rotating base to mount the target object. After the image data is fed into the computer in real-time, it is taken in as an array of two-dimensional images of the target captured from rotating angles. And it is the final objective of the project work to interpret this data into a three-dimensional representation. The work has found its applications in the Humanoid Robotics areas as well as novel prototyping techniques.

Yodahe A. Zemichael is an engineer holding a double Master's degree in Mechatronics and Micro-mechatronics and is currently involved in work with Chartered Structural Engineers (UK). He has been and is working on projects spanning the areas of embedded systems engineering, computer vision and advanced control systems.
