The vision of a digital Oman has been the cornerstone of Oman s development strategy clearly outlined by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said in his Royal Speech in November 2002. Internet world statistics 2010 reveal that Oman has over 1.2 million internet users which constitute over 42 percent of the total population. The country has not only catapulted to the development map of the world but the persistent and patronizing policies of the government have led to greater usage of cyber media. The book is of immense importance to the stakeholders it is aimed at; namely the students, educationists, cyber media content providers and the policy makers. The authors hope that the book adds to the scarce resource available on cyber media in the Omani context.

Dr. Khalid Sultan, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Deptt. of Comm. Studies, COAS, Ministry of Higher Education, Oman. He has authored two book in Media Studies "TERRORISM MEDIA AND PAKISTAN" and "ELECTRONIC MEDIA POLIO IMMUNIZATION CAMPAIGN". Contributed scholarly articles and news reports, produced television programs and documentaries.
