It was not that women are not safe and secured in North East India during the year and they could not move freely even in the night like many other states of our country. But, the overall commendable law and order situation of the state during the period under report did not match the number of incidents of crime committed against women within their households. The statistical analysis for the data about crime against women in India , it was observed that in Assam and Tripura there are highest recorded crime among the North Eastern states of India. So this two states were considered for data collection in this book.
