When I was growing up on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, I was fortunate to attend elementary school with children from many cultures representing our wonderful universe. When I was growing up on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, I was fortunate to attend elementary school with children from many cultures representing our wonderful universe. We learned from each other, we celebrated our cultures and didn't see differences. We were all children. We then grew up learning and listening to critics making disparaging comments about people from different parts of the world emphasizing "different". Then we learned and listened to political differences that divided us even more so. We are labeled Republican, Democrat, and Independent, etc. which seems to matter more than Human Beings of the Human Race. We need to embrace our love for our neighbors, our city and country. All for one and one for All. Equality for all. My beautiful dog, "Chelsea" has made so many friends on the Upper West Side. She is approached by so many people asking about her, I thought, Wow!, Chelsea is so smart, popular and well liked, she should run for Mayor! And this is how this book came about. Children need to know that politics should be about working together for a common cause, group decision, negotiation and governing for social and economic solutions. I wish for future generations of children to learn that politics is not just about power and political position but democracy and balance of power, where everyone is given equal opportunity.
