Seminar paper from the year 2022 in the subject History - Africa, grade: 12+1, Bahir Dar University (Bahir Dar university), course: History, language: English, abstract: Corruption was not a major problem in Africa prior to colonialism. Following independence, African countries inherited severely corrupt institutions and laws. Again, African military leaders who rose to power rejected the colonial era judicial structures and check-and-balance mechanisms. Since independence, political and social institutions such as the courts, police, security services, and the media have been ostensibly anti-corruption. Corruption has harmed Africa's economic, political, and social development. Corruption reduces private investment and current resource productivity, widens income disparities, reduces foreign direct investment, cuts domestic taxes, and increases government spending. On a political level, corruption undermines democracy, damages governmental legitimacy, and tarnishes the continent's good image in the eyes of the outside community. Corruption has a negative impact.
Autorenporträt
My name is Ageru Shume. I am the offspring of my father, Shume Nadew Shibesh, and my mother, Kassu Mesele Tegegne. I was born on November 16, 1980 in E.C. in the former province of Gojjam, i.e., Metekel Awuraja, particularly in the Mandura district at a place called Dawuha Makisegnit. Because of the animosity in Mandura in 1985, my families were relocated to Pawe in K2V2 ( ¿¿ ¿¿ ¿¿¿ ¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿) .When I turned 8, I joined K2V2 primary school in 1988. From 1995 to 1996, E.C. I completed primary and secondary school. From 1996 to 1997, E.C. and I attended K2V2 secondary school for Grade 9 and Grade 10. I continued my senior secondary school (preparatory level) at Pawe Senior Secondary School from 1998-1999, E.C. In 2000, I joined Debre Birhan University and received a BA Ed degree in history. After teaching the subject matter for 2 consecutive years in Oromia and Benishangul Gumuz national regional states, I became the staff of Gilgel Beles College of Teachers' Education (GBCTE) in 2005 E.C. After serving the college for two years, I started my MA studies at Jimma University in 2007-2008 E.C. From 2013 E.C. now on, I have been studying for a Doctor of Education atBahir Dar University. I am succeeding in all my activities, even though there are a lot of challenges. I hope I will complete my PhD in 2016 with the help of God and my enthusiastic advisors, who are supporting me consistently.
