ES recipe book of the year 2017. The Evening Standard "Let me commend 52 Recipes From the Man Cave by Gentleman Jim, which includes recipes for boiled eggs with soldiers, and gin and tonic. The pictures are a hoot." (https://www.standard.co.uk/shopping/esbest/books-dvds/the-best-cookbooks-of-2017-a3712981.html) "Cooking in The Man Cave was forced upon me, I have eaten quite well - it is possible - I have survived!" 52 Recipes from "The Man Cave" doubles up as both a recipe book and a coffee table book. It makes an ideal gift for either yourself, your friends, family, bachelors, students, school leavers, and anyone who needs assistance in fueling themselves in style in unfamiliar territory. Gentleman Jim was in the kitchen. He liked to eat. He enjoyed life and entertaining, usually around food and drink. Yet what one did in the kitchen was something unknown. It was an alien place to him, in the past it was somewhere where food came out from; although washing up is where his previous experience laid! A New Years' challenge was set. He was to crack the cooking and save himself, rising up like the perfect soufflé. The diary of 52 "weeks" in this book is exciting, varied and seasonal. This book is as practical as it is beautiful. Included are food that finds comfort, dishes that impress, fillers for the boys, quick suppers and breakfasts for those mornings' after. Each washed down with a small something to match and recorded for posterity and perhaps with some pride. Everything from easy to prepare frozen fish fingers, chips and beans, an egg banjo to Beef Wellington, but also what to have in your drinks cabinet and how to make the perfect Gin and Tonic; everything you'll need from dawn to dusk! Here are the highlights of that time, shared with you for inspiration as much as celebration. Helped perhaps by his passion for photography, the final presentations have been recorded in full glory. Recipes are included so the trail can be followed. With the help of this book you'll be amazed by what you're able to achieve and the results will impress any guest. I spent my childhood growing up in numerous countries overseas and have travelled around the world extensively. I have tried various cuisines cooked by the locals (many that would without doubt have failed any health and hygiene inspection!) including Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Poland, Greece, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar, Zimbabwe, Dubai, Thailand, Malaysia, Borneo, Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, Falkland Islands, Gibraltar, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and of course England. The only food that I have found that is not agreeable with my palate is goat's cheese! I hope this gives you some inspiration to eat and drink well and hopefully your guests will enjoy it to.
