The book follows their escape from the camp after Billy fakes Greta's execution, their journey across Germany and through France in the Spring of 1940 at the time when the Third Reich was on the verge of attacking France and the Low countries and incorporates this frantic period of World history. Eventually they make contact with the French resistance lead by an enigmatic ex World War One Pilot of American birth who is part of the S.O.E. (Strategic Operations Executive) then based at RAF Tempsford in Bedfordshire during World War Two.

Son of a US Airforce Officer and ex Fireman. Ben Markus has been a guitarist/singer for over 25 years fronting The Markus Band since 1983 when their debut album 'Nocturn Gate' was released on the PYE label and who are still making albums today. Ben has had articles published, mainly music based but "Greta" is his first published novel.
