Barbara Assadi is the co-founder and principal ofBayCreative, a researchbased advertising and marketing servicesfirm in San Francisco. In that capacity, she manages marketing andcreative content for client companies. Previously, she wasmarketing programs manager and editor-in-chief of OracleCorporation's Web site and managing editor at Quark, Inc.Barbara has collaborated with coauthor Galen Gruman on severalother books on publishing software and has been a contributor toOracle Magazine, Macworld, Publish, and InfoWorld.She has edited software books for Adobe Systems and Peachpit Pressand has taught university-level courses on publishing topics. Galen Gruman is the principal at The Zango Group, aneditorial and marketing consulting firm, and senior editorialassociate at BayCreative, as well as editorial director atEmergeMedia, publisher of IT Wireless. Currently a frequentcontributor to SBS Digital Design, CIO, andInfoWorld, he has also been editor of Macworld andM-Business, executive editor of Upside, West Coastbureau chief of Computerworld, and vice president of contentfor ThirdAge.com. He is coauthor of 18 other books on desktoppublishing, most with Barbara Assadi. Gruman led one of the firstsuccessful conversions of a national magazine to desktop publishingin 1986 and has covered publishing technology since then forseveral publications, including the trade weekly InfoWorld,for which he began writing in 1986, Macworld, whose staff hejoined in 1991, and most recently SBS Digital Design.
