Geza Vermes, geb. 1924. Lehrte von 1957 bis 1991 an den Universitäten Newcastle und Oxford. Seit 1991 war er Direktor des Forums für Qumran-Forschungen am Zentrum für Hebräische und Jüdische Studien in Oxford.
