Nevertheless, it sparked a heated debate, as it affected the innermost essence of catholic sacramental theology - the question of the Words of Institution as the sacramental form of the Eucharist. The non-inclusion of the Words of Institution as the sacramental form in the Anaphora of Addai and Mari thus raises the question whether this decision does not signify a general reorientation of the Catholic eucharistic doctrine. The author acknowledges Rome's decision as theologically well-founded and shows what effect it might have on the Church as a whole.

Dominik Heringer studierte Philsophie und Theologie in Frankfurt a.M. (Sankt Georgen) und Rom (Gregoriana). 2007 wurde er für das Bistum Aachen zum Priester geweiht. 2013 folgte die Promotion an der katholischen-theologischen Fakultät der Universität Bonn.
