Autor

John Basalto retired from the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office in 2013 after a 31 year career as a deputy sheriff and sergeant. A long time student of American police history, John is the author of the book Beyond the Call, chronicling the line of duty deaths of San Joaquin County peace officers from 1850 to 1997. He has also written articles for the California Law Enforcement Historical Society, the California State Sheriffs' Association, the Oregon Sheriffs' Association, and the Stockton Police Blue Notes. John is a member of the California Law Enforcement Historical Society, the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Foundation Historical Preservation Committee, the San Joaquin County Deputy Sheriffs' Association, and the Stockton Police Department Historical Archives. John lives in Oregon with his wife Lynn and works part-time for the Marion County Sheriff's Office.
