While studying screenwriting at UCLA, Nola designed an upscale Boutique Hotel and started the Beverly Hills, HIDDEN GARDEN, a hideaway for the rich and famous-a beautiful place to "disappear" after a cosmetic surgery procedure. Guests came from all over the world. Their stories gave Nola a view into their private lives and the beginning of her research into aging, the background for CHEW SLOWLY Lie About Your Age. Because of its unique clients and the unusual service, The Hidden Garden was featured on Oprah, as well as The Hollywood Facelift, Nola's first book to speak openly about cosmetic surgery. Her interviewed on Howard Stern . . . although humorously graphic, hit a good note about positive self-esteem. Nola is a graduate of the master's program at Loyola Marymount University. Her career as a screenwriter, has been recognized at the Austin Film Festival, The Houston International Film Festival, Hollywood's TOP TEN, and as a finalist at the Nicholl's Fellowship. Nola also wrote and directed, "WHERE'S MARTY?" the romantic comedy produced by the Monterey County Film Commission. Soon after, Nola wrote the award-winning comedic film script dealing with women's issues -Excuse Me, I'm Not Dead Yet! which she adopted into her first novel. Her blog, excusemeimnotdeadyet.com is an engaging read. Nola is a Certified Life Coach, consulting in Carmel-by-the-Sea.
