The younger of two siblings, Wright is raised on a central Wisconsin dairy farm. She lives isolated in a chaotic, dysfunctional environment pummeled with name-calling, belittling, and anger. She is sexually molested and made to carry out acts of violence against animals by her father who threatens her. Sworn to silence, this is her normal life; take it and shut up. Her only true friend is the family farm dog. Her mother provides a foundation of faith.

Wright's adult life is one broken relationship after another. Not understanding why relationships are so dysfunctional, she feels targeted. Love is abstract. Deep within her, she knows something is not right and struggles to identify what it is.

More than fifty years later, entering her life, is Saxon, a Golden Retriever who shows her a spiritual pathway out of her mental turmoil. Through his own rehabilitation from inter-dog aggression and the threat of being put down, Saxon and Wright form an unbreakable bond. Saxon teaches her about the matters of the heart. Because of God and Saxon, she discovers transgenerational shame is the foundation of the spiritual battle within. Saxon teaches her that if he can release his anger, she can overcome and heal from shame. It's a rough-and-tumble near-death struggle for both. There are roller coaster moments of deep sorrow, hilarity, compassion, introspection, and inspiration. The dogs in this story will grab your heart.

Bonnie Wright has trained performance dogs for twenty-four years. Harnessing evidence-based research, continuous study, intellect, and spiritual intuition with the goal of passionately improving the lives of dogs and educating the public. Over the years the dogs taught her to take an individualized holistic approach. Her high standards, respect, compassion, and science are knitted across her life's work. She is a certified animal behavior instructor forming the All Star Dog Training Company, LLC in 2013. She established the SS Safari All-Star Fund to provide community grants through the Eau Claire Community Foundation. When Saxon, her own dog, was diagnosed with inter-dog fear aggression at five months old, she rehabilitated and trained him to achieve an AKC Master Hunter title, participating in the Master National Retriever Championship event. She never realized the behavior modification methods she taught Saxon were predestined to uncover and set free her life of unconscious transgenerational shame. Diggin' Up Bones is a memoir showing the reader this inspirational life-changing story. The memoir's intent is to serve the greater good and support charitable organizations. Bonnie graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire with a BS degree in education, with a minor in early childhood education. She completed her MBA from Cardinal Stritch University at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She retired in 2012, serving the healthcare industry, after a successful thirty-five-year career with a major pharmaceutical corporation. Currently, she trains therapy dogs for reading programs and the local Mayo Health System. She and Siri volunteer for their church. She remains an active board member of the Blackhawk Retriever Club 501(c) 3 and an AKC performance field judge. She enjoys long walks in the country with her dogs, bicycling, field training, and writing.
