5G technology will be the standard for next-generation mobile Internet, and it will not only enhance the individual user's experience, but also provide technical support for artificial-intelligence-based applications, such as smart manufacturing, smart healthcare, smart government, smart cities and driverless cars. As a result, 5G is regarded as the "infrastructure" of the industrial Internet and artificial intelligence and both China and the United States are striving to become the 5G leader and spearhead this new generation of international mobile communication standards. Though trade tensions between China and the United States continue to escalate, with products ranging from soybeans to mobile phones and automobiles being affected, 5G technology may be the true cause of trade wars between the world's top two economies.
In short, 5G will change not only society, but also international trade patterns. This book describes various 5G scenarios, changes and values; explains the standards, technologies and development directions behind 5G; and explores new models, new formats and new trends in 5G-based artificial intelligence.

Autor

Xiwen Wang received his PhD in Engineering from China University of Mining and Technology. He is currently Director of the Beijing Huaxia Institute of Industrial Network Intelligent Technology Research and a professor at Nanchang Institute of Technology. He was a post-doctoral research fellow at the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China (ISTIC) before serving as Director of Electronic Commerce and of the Industrial 4.0 Institute at the Center for International Economic and Technical Cooperation, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology China. Dr Wang is a member of the Central Working Committee for the Promotion of Technological Innovation and the Central Special Committee on Science and Technology of the Jiusan Society. He has already conducted more than 500 training sessions on 5G and Industry 4.0 for corporate management, e.g. at Huawei, Antfin, OPPO, WILO, and Lufthansa. Longxiang Gao received his PhD in Computer Science from Deakin University, Australia. He is currently a Senior Lecturer and Co-founder of the Deakin Blockchain Innovation Lab at the School of Information Technology, Deakin University. Before joining the university, he was a post-doctoral research fellow at IBM Research & Development, Australia. His research interests include fog/edge computing, blockchain, data analysis and privacy protection. Dr. Gao has over 50 publications, including monographs, book chapters, journal and conference papers, to his name, and his work has been published in leading journals, such as IEEE TMC, IEEE IoTJ, IEEE TDSC, IEEE TVT, IEEE TCSS, and IEEE TNSE. He has been Chief Investigator (CI) for more than 20 research projects (with total funding of $4.6 million), from pure research projects to contracted industry research. He is a senior member of the IEEE.
