Kharif maize is gaining importance due to its productivity and stable market price, there is need to establish a relationship between nitrogen and plant densities. The information on response of highly productive maize hybrids to higher levels of nitrogen beyond the present level of recommendations is meager. Presently, available hybrids are showing good response to higher levels of nitrogen. Since maize is grown under different farming situations, there is need to assess the response of high yielding maize hybrids to different levels of nitrogen for arriving at most profitable and economical dose. In addition to nutrient management, optimum plant population also play crucial role in enhancement of crop productivity. It is an established fact that higher yield depends on optimum plant population and adequate nutrient application, particularly nitrogen.
