I believe John is referring to a qualitative measure. In other words, the quality of those who worship. Could this be the reason why Jesus tells the Samaritan woman that the Father is looking for worshippers who worship in spirit and in truth? These two qualities point to the worshipper's attitude, to the quality of the worship. Such worshippers are those who live each day expanding the height, depth, breadth, and length of their worship.
