In order to deal with this dramatic increase, WHO suggested to focus on prevention, early detection and early treatment of human tumour by health screening. We have worked on this topic for more than 30 years resulting in detection of precancerous lesions to enable early intervention in clinical oncology, preventing cancer progression and reducing mortality. A new model has been developed - Prevention, Early Detection and Early Treatment Tumourigenesis - based on oxidative stress (8-oxo-dG) and a reliable tumour proliferation biomarker (human thymidine kinase 1 (HTK1) in serum (STK1). STK1 assay by IgY polyclonal antibody against HTK1 is able to discover invisible malignant tumours before the appearance of tumour loci in modern imaging. It is not only in the clinical evaluation of prognosis, recurrence risk, and survival in cancer patients but also for early tumour screening especially, showing that people with elevated STK1 levels in their blood have a 3-5 times higher risk to develop malignancy within 11 years.
