The bioadhesive polymers may be classified as synthetic or natural polymers. The natural Bioadhesive polymers possess high molecular weight and contain a large number of hydrophilic functional groups. Therefore, much research these days is directed towards the use of biopolymers for formulating bioadhesive drug delivery systems. In this study a natural polymer and its derivatives have been used for formulating buccoadhesive drug delivery system. This book should be especially useful to all those researchers employed in the field of using natural polymers for bioadhesive drug delivery.
