Gambir is a natural product which has been known to have wide range of applications especially in medicinal and food usages. It consists major compound of catechin and epicatechin. The chemical compound of gambir was chemically modified into novel biosorbent and the efficacy of removal of heavy metal ions from aqueous solution was tested in order to be the potent source to be used in wastewater treatment.

Autor

Dr Tong Kim Suan obtained his degree in Analytical Chemistry (Hons) from Universiti Sains Malaysia, followed by obtained his Master in Science (Instrumentation Chemistry) and PhD in Material Chemistry from Universiti Sains Malaysia. Currently, Dr Tong is an Assistant Professor in Faculty of Science, Univerisiti Tunku Abdul Rahamn, Kampar Malaysia.
