The work investigated the neurodegenerative effect of cannabis on brain cells and the anti-apoptotic quality of Folic acid on nerve cells.It was discovered that cannabis caused degeneration of nerve cells through apoptotic mechanism and this damage was reversed by Folic acid.Folic acid as used in this work was able to slow down reactive astrogliosis and this could change the approach of physician to the treatment of brain injuries in the future.

I am a graduate student researcher at the Veterinary Anatomy Department of the University of Ibadan. My interest in the cannabis began right after witnessing drug abuse spreading to household pets
