At times the birds reach laboratory in decomposed form and may not be fit for post-mortem examination and disease diagnosis. The delay in diagnosis allows the disease to inflict mortality and effect economy of farmers.The budding veterinarians should understand the strategies to be adopted for prevention of infections during purchase of breeding stock that are free from vertically-transmitted diseases. The relative importance and contribution towards vaccination and appropriate levels of bio-security will represent the components of disease prevention, management, care and control.
