He drew and wrote stories involving his favorite comic book superheroes, before turning to more mature and dramatic themes as a pre-teen and teen. Brad won numerous writing and poetry contests during his high school and college years. James was also an avid rap music fan, with the late Tupac Shakur being his favorite artist.
