4½ stars for this cosy Christmas novel

Can we ever get enough of Hallmark style holiday romances? ❄️ Is mid-November too early for a cosy Christmas novel? ➡️ If the answer is no to both, hurry to catch some flurry in Falling Leaves. Emma and Caleb have that instant attraction when their paths cross. Neither is looking for love nor ready to jump into a new relationship. Both are loveably quirky in their own way, causing lots of awkward and cute moments especially when the "biddies" start meddling. I loved how Caleb described his urge to flee Falling Leaves the moment he could, only to later in lif return and love it. kinda relatable for many. His family is a lot (of chaos) but so charming and can't help feeling warm.  Spoiler: The story contains the usual 2/3 breakup. While it's caused by Emma's ingrained flight mechanism instead of asking for help - and not some stupid misunderstanding - I personally would prefer their character growth handled differently without a breakup. These two did have some issues - but refreshingly not because they don't communicate but due to their quirkiness causing some word salad which they openly address and (try to) talk about.  My sometimes too-rational brain wonders about 2-3 potential timeline anomalies which slightly made me stumble while reading how to make it sense - but it luckily didn't disrupt the flow of the story. Together with (my growing dislike of the too often) 2/3 breakup, I couldn't give it the full 5* although I truly enjoyed this book in one session! It's one of those 4½* comfort reads with a winter wonderland location making me sigh and dreamy. Favorite Lines --- Oh, she was in trouble. It should be wrong to feel like this [...], but the heart wanted what it wanted. --- If you’re not terrified, what’s the point of trying? --- We’ve learned that true friends are the ones who support you with their friendship and occasionally their pocketbooks. --- Tropes: single dad holiday romance  rebound romance small town charm interfering townsfolk women supporting women
