Yang Hao started his professional football career with Beijing Guoan after graduating from their youth team during the 2001 Chinese league season. Gradually establishing himself within the Beijing team he became a squad regualr by the following season. He however found it difficult to gain a continuous place within the starting eleven until the 2004 league season when he was able play in 19 league games. Yang Hao would make his international debut against Iran in a friendly, which China won 1-0 on the 1st of June 2009, where he played in midfield. He would again play in the following friendly against Saudi Arabia in a 4-1 defeat on the 4th of June 2009.
