The unfortunate truth is two-fold: the reprieves from high-anxiety were few and far between and her life was lived on high alert. This mental trauma subsequently caused many gaps between memories. Narcissist mother, absentee father. They deny any of it ever happened. They were married for three decades but lived separate lives. Tara's father has excuse after excuse for his behavior. Attempting to discuss the situations to arrive at a resolution or admittance of guilt has always been a fruitless effort because even if there were witnesses, the abuse and neglect was still denied or Tara was told she deserved it. When Tara entered her late teens, the physical abuse stopped, but the rest continued, as well as some destruction disguised as unintentional. These two people should have never been parents. So how does resolution happen? Sometimes resolution and letting go can happen in unplanned, unexpected ways.
