Tolerance is a universal value that should be promoted everywhere for a better, more peaceful world. Tolerance means respect, acceptance and appreciation of the richness and diversity of our world's cultures, ways of speaking and expressing our quality of human beings. Education for tolerance may provide solutions for problems arising in today's society beset by economic, political, environmental, medical, climatic and ideological challenges that exceed national and regional borders, an environment where individuals, groups and peoples who think, feel and act differently interact and express themselves. The goals of tolerance education are: promoting a spirit of openness and understanding towards other peoples; teaching the importance of refusing violence and adopting peaceful means of settling disputes and conflicts; cultivating altruism, mutual respect, solidarity and participation based on self-confidence and the ability to recognize and appreciate multiple aspects of human personality in different cultural and social contexts.
