Portrait

Imran Uddin is a Professor in the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Saveetha Dental College and Hospital, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, (SIMATS), Saveetha University, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. He worked as a senior research scientist at the University of Pannonia, Hungary; postdoctoral fellows at Rhodes University, South Africa, and Korea University, Seoul, Republic of Korea. He also worked as an assistant professor at Aligarh Muslim. He completed his Ph.D. in biotechnology from the CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, India. His research interest lies in the fabrication of biocompatible nanostructures for nanobiosensors and flexible electronics. Moreover, his research work includes studying the interface of biology with inorganic nanomaterials, understanding the underlying biological process, developing new industrially relevant renewable nanomaterials, as well as eco-toxicological aspects. Additionally, he is dedicated to exploring the potential applications of these nanostructures in the medical field, such as in targeted drug delivery systems and tissue engineering. With a focus on sustainability, he is also actively involved in investigating the environmental impact of nanomaterials, ensuring their safe and responsible use in the future. He is the recipient of a number of awards and fellowships, including the Start-up Research Grant (Young Scientists) Scheme funded by Life Sciences, Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB), Department of Science & Technology, Government of India; Senior Research Associateship (Scientists’ Pool Scheme) and Senior Research Fellowship funded by CSIR (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research), Government of India; and the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the Agriculture Scientist Requirement Board (ASRB) for Assistant Professor/Lectureship in Indian Universities.
