Ernest Cline hat mit seinen Zukunftsszenarien rund um die Welt in READY PLAYER TWO tatsächlich eine spannende wie auch furchtbare Welt erschaffen, in der es durch Daten und anderen Techniken möglich ist, Menschen praktisch digital zu klonen. Auch wie schon im Vorgänger verlangt diese Erkenntnis nach einer Schnitzeljagd, in der Wade und seine Freunde mal wieder in die Welt der Popkultur abtauchen und Gefahren überwinden müssen, um die Welt zu retten. Leider schafft es Cline nicht einen wirklichen Spannungsbogen aufzubauen oder gar seine Charaktere emotional wachsen zu lassen. Da hilft es auch nicht der größte Fan von John Hughes, Prince oder von J. R. R. Tolkien zu sein und mit allerlei Referenzen zu spielen. Alles in allem für mich leider eine ernüchternde und in Teilen wirklich langweilige Lektüre. WIrklich schade!
