Because space operations play a critical role in military operations, space planners need to organize space operations from the four space mission areas within the six-phased framework. Because the target audience for this paper includes non-space operators as well as space operators, this paper first describes the four mission areas of space operations: space control/ counterspace, force enhancement, space support, and force application.
