Two generations later, the grandchildren of these migrants met in the United States under the most unlikely circumstances. Still facing barriers and fighting society’s expectations and fear-mongering of the current political climate, the two young people continued to fight for what their grandparents set out to attain and what they dared to dream of having: the freedom to love and to be happy living in your own skin- despite of what others told them to believe. Though they came from different backgrounds, they strived to prove ourselves to the world and to our families while facing racism and prejudice as young people of color in the United States while trying to love each other. This is a modern love story about how two people overcame society’s obstacles by fighting to live freely in their own skin- and to be together- even when they were forced apart. This book is an autobiographical novella based on true events that illustrate love’s great power to transcend generations to liberate and unite even the most marginalized people.
