In the time she spends alone, though, she can't help but wonder why the guys she befriended at Spearwood, and Lusk in particular, haven't reached out even once. When Jackie invites her to return to the Isle of Dragons early, she leaps at the chance to get away from her childhood friend turned nemesis. A return to Spearwood, though, brings with it trouble of its own. An overheard conversation between Lusk and his father makes her question his loyalty, and new trials stall Avalon's progress at school, putting her in jeopardy of being among the first cut. Then, students begin to disappear, and death strikes at Spearwood. The school for dragon shifters has never been a safe place, but now, it's downright deadly. There's a killer on the loose, and Avalon can't help but wonder if the culprit is hiding among her friends.
