Interim Use in Urban Planning

This studies examines two different approaches in managing interim uses on vacant urban space. The various pioneering projects at the famous Tempelhof airfield in Berlin are compared to the case of the former industrial site Helios-factory in Cologne. Through closely examining actors, networks and processes, successfactors and obstacles are revealed to foster a better understanding of how to turn temporary uses into a permanent success.

Autor

The author holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social sciences and a Master of Science in Urban Management and Development. Combining the academic fields of communication, media, sociology and political science, the authors work examines how citizens make use of cities and acclaim space within the urban sphere.
