Tiger was traumatised…and then I was, too, I guess…

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

This book was one of the most sad and unexpected books I have ever read! Although it didn’t contain lots of big plot twists and action and the start and middle of the story were really slow-going, it was all in all a great book. I loved how Kathleen Glasgow expressed Tiger’s grief and sadness after her mother dying with metaphors, for example the „black hole“ that would swallow her or her being a „girl bug“, kept in a glass, which showed us her loss of solution and optimism after that kind of trauma. I started reading that book with the intention to learn something from it - and I did. In the story itself but also in the writer’s notes at the end, the author criticized the way people would ignore mental health problems and traumatised people like Tiger. Also, she said that people should open their eyes and be there for the people who need them in a hard time and ESPECIALLY not say things like “I’m sorry” (even if it’s meant for good) or “Go over it, you can’t live like that!”. Because they cannot go over it so quickly, they will be haunted for the rest of their lives, so the only thing they can do is to make friends with the dark - and no one can actually tell you how to do it, PERFECT, right? The story also showed me really well the (mostly) unfair orphan system of the USA. And all that stuff and much more are what I learned from that book and I hope you will or have, too! BUT please search for trigger warnings before reading this book (trust me…no, honestly, TRUST me, because I still don’t know if this book helped me grow or destroyed me!)
