The quest for self-enrichment, realization and contentment is as old as humanity itself. This quest has given rise to activities aimed at promoting particular or overall good of the human person. This work focuses on economic activities, especially in the era of globalization taking into consideration, their relationship with some of the traditional values of the Church. Such values like; the dignity of the human person, labour, family, solidarity and subsidiarity are considered here from both local and global perspectives. This inquiry demonstrates to what extent the human person is the architect of economic activities. It also analyses the relationship between such economic activities and the aforementioned values and how such relationship can promote or alienate the human person from God, self, fellow humans, society and nature. Since tackling these problems from a global perspective alone does not bring home the reality of the devastating impact of globalization on real people, this work goes the extra mile of focusing on a concrete social system- Nigeria in general and the Igbo people in particular. In so doing, a veritable exposé of the Micro and Macro aspects of globalization is achieved.
