Disciplining himself, he began to study religions and spiritual principles that helped him gain insight into the unseen realm. As the book progresses, Jacky teaches the reader what he has learned and applied to his character, Christian truths, that have helped to remold and reshape him into a new person. His past active role as a gang leader within the Ohio prison system positioned him to influence another convict he'd met and become friends with to falsely confess to the two murders Jacky was charged with in hopes to help free Jacky. ( Newspaper article included) After this failed attemp to have his case re-opened and after flooding the prisons in Ohio with drugs and contraband smuggled in by a prison guard Jacky paid, he was forced into the state of Connecticut by Ohio prison and told he could not return anytime soon due to management concerns. The state of Connecticut afforded Jacky the isolation and calmness he'd been looking for inside prison as he began to take God more seriously on his promises and word held out in scripture.
