Appalachian Coal Hauler: The Innerstate Railroad's Mine Runs and Coal Trains
With this book, Ed Wolfe completes the story which he began in 1994
of the Interstate Railroad. This latest volume deals with the coal
mines, tipples, and switching operations, including coal trains and
mine runs that formed the backbone of this line's traffic. Well
written accounts include much first person material formt he
author's father, an Interstate brakeman and conductor from 1937
- 1978, which brings the operation of this short but active and
hight interesting line to life. The excellent photos, drawings and
track plans give wonderful background to modelers building coal
hauling lines and operation them in prototypical fashion.
