The Leper King is not intended as a historical novel. All I
intended, is to become a story in the style of The Three Musketeers
and The Count of Monte Cristo, with which the genius of Alexander
Dumas captivated readers taking advantage of information gaps that
often surround certain facts historical basis to give life to
characters on the borderline between reality and fiction, and
sometimes just for being flesh and blood as those who have turned
to dust centuries ago. D'Artagnan or Edmond Dantes are more
alive today than most of the kings and queens of their time. My
intention has been to recreate freely almost unbelievable story of
a king of flesh and blood who was loved by his people and has never
loved other man as him. Alberto Vzquez-Figueroa
