Als ihm der Lesestoff ausging, begann er selbst zu schreiben. 1990 erschien der Auftakt zu seinem Zyklus "Das Rad der Zeit", einem einzigartigen epischen Werk, das Millionen Fans in der ganzen Welt gefunden hat. 2007 starb Robert Jordan an einer seltenen Blutkrankheit.
