Roxas was one of the founding members of Metal Pop band, Roxus, together with Dragan Stanic (guitar), John 'Stones' Nixon (bass), Darren Danielson (drums) and Andy Shanahan (keyboards). The band had been playing Van Halen and Living Colour styled rock around Sydney since 1987, but it was as a support act to Poison and Bon Jovi during their respective Australian tours in 1989 that first brought the band to public attention. Ian "Molly" Meldrum signed the band to his ill-fated Melodian label (through Mushroom) and issued two singles in 1989: "Stand Back" and "Body Heat." By 1990, Roxus had cemented itself as a popular live drawcard and a live EP was released, That Girl, to capitalize on their success.
