This book has been composed for and targeted at surgical trainees
preparing for the MRCS examination. The authors' aim was to
provide a book that offers a comprehensive collection of questions
that have been compiled whilst bearing in mind the changes in the
new intercollegiate examination system. The book is exhaustive with
1,200 EMQs (extended matching questions) based on 279 themes
covering the whole of general surgery. The text layout helps the
trainee practice the questions systematically and the section on
exam techniques allows the trainee to gain an insight into the
essential finer points of preparation that are crucial in passing
the MRCS exams. It has been written by four authors who have all
taken the exam in the past 2 years, and thus are best placed to
provide an excellent representative sample of questions.
