The Turks and Caicos Islands is an archipelago of half a dozen populated islands and numerous other islets and cays located just to the south of the Bahamas chain of islands. This book examines the nature of these, and other aspects of the Turks and Caicos identity.

Dr Carlton Mills is originally from South Caicos. He has been an educator in Turks & Caicos throughout his professional life. He was Deputy Principal of the Turks & Caicos Community College between 1997 and 2007. After the General Election in 2007, Dr Mills was appointed to the Turks & Caicos Cabinet as Minister of Education, Youth, Sports and Culture. Although he has relinquished his position at the Community College, he remains committed to raising the quality of educational facilities and resources in Turks & Caicos, and to increasing educational opportunities for the people of Turks & Caicos.
