Hoffmann von Fallersleben (1798-1874), eigentlich August Heinrich Hoffmann, zählt zu den bekanntesten deutschen Dichtern. Er war Professor für deutsche Sprache und Literatur in Breslau und schrieb politische Gedichte, aber auch Kinderreime und Liebesgedichte. 1841 verfasste er das "Lied der Deutschen", die spätere deutsche Nationalhymne.
